A day after delivering an emphatic performance against Pakistan at Sharjah, Afghanistan will take on India in another Super 4 match of Asia Cup 2022.

Though both India and Afghanistan are no more alive in the tournament as they are already out of the final race but their today’s match at Dubai might produce another thriller in the event.

Both the teams topped their respective groups in the pre-Super 4 Stage after remaining unbeaten. However, as the tournament progressed, their fortune turned for the worse and both of them lost all of their matches afterwards.

In their Super 4 Stage matches, both India and Afghanistan lost to Pakistan and Sri Lanka; therefore, they were knocked out of the tournament.

In today’s match, India are favorites for the fact that not only they are currently the top-ranked team in ICC T20 Rankings but they have never been beaten by Afghanistan in the past.

India remain unbeaten against Afghanistan so far

Overall, India have won all three T20Is, they have so far played against Afghanistan. In addition to that, India thrashed Afghanistan at Mirpur in Asia Cup 2014; however, their contest in Asia Cup 2018 ended in tie.

Yet India, which are already facing severe backlash for poor team selection and below the par performance, need to brace themselves to face a much confident and passionate Afghanistan.

If Afghanistan reproduced their last night’s performance against Pakistan, they might surprise the mighty Indian side.

Earlier last night, Naseem Shah’s two back-to-back sixes in the last over helped Pakistan to ensure their place in the final.

Batting first, Afghanistan scored 129 runs for 6 in stipulated 20 overs. Pakistan reached the target in 19.2 overs with just 1 wicket in hand.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play the final of Asia Cup 2022 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
