Two cricketing giants England and Australia will be facing each other at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in a Group 1 Match of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 on Friday.

Both teams are currently placed at 4th and 5th positions respectively in Points Table of their group.

They have 2 points each along with Sri Lanka and Afghanistan; however, their standings have been determined as per the net run rate (NRR).

In Group 1, New Zealand are leading with 3 points followed by Ireland which also carry 3 points while Sri Lanka at 3rd have 2 points.

Head to Head in T20Is: England won 11, Australia 10

In bilateral clashes, England are slightly ahead of Australia. Out of 23 T20 Internationals played from 2005 to 2022, England won 11 and lost 10 to Aussies.

Just ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022, England won the three-match T20 series against Australia in their soil by 2-0.

In the last 10 result-oriented T20 matches between them, England emerged victorious in 7 games against Australia’s 3.

Group 1 match between Afghanistan and Ireland abandoned

Earlier in the day, the rain-affected match between Afghanistan and Ireland at MCG was abandoned without a ball bowled.

On Thursday, three matches were played in Group 2. South Africa thrashed Bangladesh at Sydney by 104 runs while India defeated Netherlands by 56 runs.

In their second match of T20 World Cup 2022, Pakistan again suffered a defeat to Zimbabwe by 1 run at Perth. Now Pakistan have been dealt back-to-back losses in the tournament; therefore, they have yet to open their account in the points table of Group 2.

Pakistan will now play against Netherland at Perth on Sunday.
