This is Pakistan’s first match after climbing to the top spot in the Men’s ODI Team Rankings surpassing Australia.
Pakistan reached the milestone after thrashing Afghanistan in a recently concluded three-match ODI series held in Sri Lanka from August 22 to August 26, 2023.
In Asia Cup, India – with seven titles (six ODI and one T20I) in 1984, 1988, 1990–91, 1995, 2010, 2016, and 2018 – is the most successful team followed by Sri Lanka which have sealed the title six times in 1986, 1997, 2004, 2008, 2014, and 2022 while Pakistan have won two titles in 2000 and 2012.
