New Zealand will face Sri Lanka at Sydney on Saturday, hoping that they seal another win and stay atop in Group 1 of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

With three points and 4.450 NRR, the runner-up of previous T20 World Cup New Zealand are leading their group.

The following England, Ireland and Australia have three points each and placed second, third and fourth places respectively based on their net run rates.

Sri Lanka, which entered the Super 12 Round as the top-placed team in Group A of First Round and hammered Ireland by nine wickets in their first match of the following stage, lost to Australia at Perth.

Therefore, after two matches, Sri Lanka managed to secure two points and was placed at fifth position in the group.

The Sunday’s match would be the 20th T20Is between New Zealand and Sri Lanka since 2006. The last time they met in this format was on September 6, 2019 at Pallekele.

Of those 19 bilateral encounters, New Zealand won 10 whereas Sri Lanka secured victory in 7 T20Is. One match between them was tied and another one produced no result following the rain interruption.
