India has qualified for Semi Final of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 by beating South Africa by 8 wicket at The Oval on Sunday.

While batting first South Africa were 191 for all out in 44.3 overs. In reply, India reached the target of 192 runs in 38 overs with 8 wickets in hand.

Rest of the Story was posted prior to the beginning of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 group B between India and South Africa at The Oval on June 11, 2017.

It’s time for group B to decide which would be its competitors in Semi Finals of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 against England and Bangladesh.

The two hot favorites ranked 1 South Africa and ranked 3 India will turn in at The Oval on Sunday for a group B match which has now become a Quarterfinal as the winner will go through to the Semis whereas the loser will be knocked out.

In group B, all four teams have 2 points each but as per net run rate, India is at top followed by South Africa, Sri Lanka and Pakistan respectively.

Both South Africa and India, as expected, kicked off their respective journeys in the tournament on high note, thrashing Sri Lanka and Pakistan respectively. But later the beaten sides turned the tide and recorded back-to-back upsets.

For today’s game, Ravichandran Ashwin has been included in Indian XI for Umesh Yadav, considering South African three left-hand batsmen in its top six whereas South Africa has also replaced Andile Phehlukwayo with Wayne Parnell.

The forecast suggested that there would be a complete match.

Overall South Africa has much better ODI record against India as in 76 games between the two said teams, the former won 45 while the latter 28.

However, in all ICC tournaments which also include World T20s, India has been dominant over South Africa. They met 12 times in ICC events, which resulted in India’s victory 8 times.

Earlier on Saturday, England defeated Australia at Edgbaston, paving the way for Bangladesh to reach the Semi Finals which the Host itself had already qualified for.
