PoliticsPTI reiterates demand for removal of governors

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday once again demanded the removal of governors of four provinces prior to the holding of 2018 general elections.

Talking to media at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) where he appeared before Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani for hearing of an appeal filed against the rejection of the Chairman PTI Imran Khan’s nomination papers by the Returning Officer (RO) for NA-53 Islamabad-II, Dr Baba Awan said the governors of four provinces should be removed.

Babar Awan, who appeared before the appellate tribunal as Imran Khan’s lawyer, said the Chairman PTI would win the election from NA-53, and would also become the Country’s prime minister. He said Imran Khan was struggling for the rights of people.

Meanwhile, the appellate tribunal heard the petition filed by Imran Khan challenging RO’s decision. The Court sought record from the RO.

The hearing was adjourned till tomorrow (Friday).

Last Tuesday, the RO for NA-53 Islamabad-II had rejected the nomination papers of Imran Khan for failing to properly fill out the affidavit attached with the nomination papers.

Besides, the nomination papers of the former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Sardar Mehtab Abbasi and Ayesha Gulalai were also rejected by the RO.
