ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has insisted that it will hold its planned October 4 rally in front of the Parliament House in Islamabad as part of its efforts to force the members of the Election Commission of Pakistan to resign (ECP) over their failure of holding free and fair polls.

It is pertinent to mention that the Islamabad administration has not allowed the PTI to hold the rally in the above mentioned venue, auguring that no rally can be held in the red zone under section 144.

The sources said that the PTI say that its rally will be held as per its plan and if the administration puts hurdles in its way, the federal government will be held responsibility for that.

The PTI further say that the container of the PTI Chief Imran Khan will be placed at the same venue where it was during sit-in days. However, the party say that the final decision about the rally venue will be taken after consultation with Imran Khan.

The PTI argues that the ECP four members must resign after their failure of conducting the 2013 general elections in a transparent manner was unveiled in the Judicial Commission report as well as in verdicts by the Elections tribunals of Lahore and Multan.

However, the ECP members reject the PTI’s accusations and insisted that they would not step down.

The sources say that the PTI’s rally is unlikely to achieve its objective as far as the resignations of four ECP members are considered. However, Imran-led political party will also use this rally as a part of its campaign for October 11 by elections in Lahore’s NA-122 and Lodhran’s NA-154.

In addition, the rally is also intended to boost up the PTI’s campaign for the first phase of the forthcoming local government elections in Punjab and Sindh.
