PESHAWAR: As many as 35 workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have been charged with torturing drivers of the containers carrying supplies to the NATO forces in Afghanistan during a protest against drone strikes and to block NATO supply in Peshawar.

A large number of the PTI activists stopped containers and checked the documents of containers drivers on Sunday, a day after the PTI Chairman Imran Khan gave a call at a rally on Peshawar’s Ring road to block NATO supply routes going through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to Afghanistan in protest against US drone attacks.

The sources said that while checking the documents of the drivers as their containers heading to Afghanistan reached to pass through a toll booth, the PTI activists tortured some drivers.

According to the sources, the cases against the PTI activists have been registered under sections 141, 148, 149 and 341 PPC on orders of IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the Pishta Khara Police Station.
