LAHORE: The Federation’s counsel, Advocate Wasim Sajjad, on Wednesday assured the Lahore High Court’s (LHC) bench that President Asif Ali Zardari would soon relinquish the political office of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman and the Presidency would not be used for any political activities, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

A five-member full bench of the LHC, headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, resumed the hearing of case regarding dual offices held by President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday on a petition filed by Munir Ahmed.

During the hearing, Federation’s counsel Sajjad asserted that the President isn’t a chairman of a party which is registered with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), adding Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) is registered with the ECP and that president is not the head of PPPP.
