HANGU: A preliminary investigation report on the November 21 US drone attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu district was submitted by police to the Inspector General KPK Police Nasir Durrani on Tuesday.

At least six persons were killed in a US drone strike that targeted an Islamic seminary in Tal area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu district, which was the first such strike in settled areas of the province.

On Monday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) filed an application with the Inspector General Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Durrani seeking to nominate the United States and CIA in Hangu drone attack case.

The application was filed by PTI’s central legal secretary Barrister Suleman Afridi while subsequently IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa issued orders for initiating action over the provincial government’s request.

The IGP Durrani appointed Habib Ullah, the Inspector in Doaba police station, as investigation officer who formally submitted a report into the incident after recording statements of various eyewitnesses and inspecting the site.

The sources said that IGP Durrani summoned the investigation officer to look into the probe record.

On November 22, the First Information Report (FIR) was registered in Tal police station against unknown persons for perpetrating a drone attack in Hangu.

The FIR was registered under Section 302, 427, 403 of Penal Code of Pakistan on the complaint of provincial government and local police.
