The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) has nominated the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai as its Presidential Candidate for the upcoming Presidential Elections.

The Presidential Elections is set to take place on March 09, 2024.

The Joint Candidate of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Asif Ali Zardari and an Independent Candidate Asghar Ali are also vying for the Office of President.

Their Nomination Papers were filed on Saturday for the Presidential Elections. The Scrutiny of the Nomination Papers will be held on March 04.

The President of Pakistan is elected for a five-year term by an Electoral College comprising Members of the Senate, National Assembly and the four Provincial Assemblies.

The voting is held through a secret ballot.

Meanwhile, the Election of the Prime Minister will be held on Sunday.

Separately, the swearing in of the newly-elected Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti will take place at the Governor House in Quetta on Saturday.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti was elected unopposed as the Leader of the House in the Balochistan Assembly yesterday.
