ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Senator Mushahidullah Khan on Thursday said Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz were unlikely to be elected as leaders of the respective Houses; however, they would definitely play effectives roles in opposition.
Talking to media, Mushahidullah Khan said both Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz played impressive role during their government.
Senator Mushahidullah said Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz were imprisoned when they were in the opposition, adding imprisonment and jails were not new for them.
“We had to bear the burden of sins we didn’t do,” the PML-N leader said.
The President PML-N Shahbaz Sharif is vying for the Premiership while his son Hamza Shahbaz will contest for the Chief Minister Punjab. However, chances of their success are thin as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) backed by allies and independents is believed to be in a dominating position in both National Assembly and the Punjab Assembly.
In the meantime, a surfacing rift between PML-N and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) over the nomination of Shahbaz Sharif may cause further deterioration to the former’s position in the Centre.
The PPP leadership including its Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has already voiced reservations over Shahbaz Sharif’s nomination, and is yet to endorse the decision of PML-N with regard to the prime minister’s election.
Bilawal has said that PPP will take decision whether to vote for Shahbaz Sharif or not at the last moment.
The election in the Lower Houser of the Parliament for the prime minister will take place on Friday afternoon.
