PoliticsQadri-convened APC demands Qisas for Model Town massacre

LAHOR, Pakistan: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri-Convened All Parties Conference (APC) concluded with joint declaration at Minhaj-ul-Qaran Secretariat in Lahore on Saturday, seeking Qisas (Revenge for Justice) for Model Town massacre.

More than 40 political parties including Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP), Awami Muslim League (AML) and Jamiat Ulema Pakistan participated in the APC.

Meanwhile, the APC unanimously approved a joint declaration, according to which, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and the provincial Police were held responsible for the massacre carried out outside Minhaj-ul-Quran Secretary in Model Town, Lahore on June 17, 2014.

The APC noted that Model Town tragedy was the worst incident of State Terrorism, and extended the deadline for resignation of Shahbaz Sharif and Rana Sanaullah by January 7.

Tahir-ul-Qadri said the deadline for Shahbaz Sharif and Rana Sanaullah’s resignation was extended to gain time for consultation with other parties.

The APC also noted that an attempt to change Khatm-e-Nabuwwat law amounted to abuse the Constitution. It said that the mastermind who tried to change Khatm-e-Nabuwwat law was not exposed. It demanded that those responsible for the change in the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Oath should be given strict punishment.

Earlier while addressing the APC participants, the Chief of PAT Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri reiterated his demand for resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, saying they would’t be spared in any cost.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadir said they would not let anyone destroy national institutions. He said all parties were united for law and order and Pakistan army.

“We will foil agenda against Pakistan,” he said, adding the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was the founder of horse trading.

In the APC, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Rehman Malik, Manzoor Watto and Latif Khosa represented PPP, PTI’s representatives were Jahangir Tareen, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Shafqat Mehmood and Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar while Sahibzada Abdul Khair Zubair from Jamiat Ulema Pakistan also participated.

Talking to media in Lahore prior to the beginning of APC, the PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira said they were with Tahir-ul-Qadri for the sake of justice. He said responsibilities of Model Town incident had been identified in Bagir Najfi report, adding after the report, Shahbaz Sharif must resign.

Kaira said they would issue a joint declaration after All Parties Conference.

Talking to media, the AML Chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said all political and religious parties were on the same page.

Shaikh Rasheed also said there was no room for National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), adding the politics of Nawaz Sharif and his family had ended now.

“We are with Tahir-ul-Qadri in his demand for Qisas,” he said.

The PSP Chairman Mustafa Kamal said they had arrived in Lahore to express solidarity to those who were victims of tyranny.

Mustafa Kamal further said the people of Karachi rejected the agenda of RAW. He said their public gathering in Karachi was historic, and the people announced their decision in the stronghold of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
