PoliticsPTI would become tragic tale if Imran remains unchanged: Irfan Siddiqui

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on National Affairs Irfan Siddiqui said on Tuesday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan would have to change his political strategy, otherwise his party would become a tragic story.

Talking to media in Islamabad, Irfan Siddiqui said that verdicts from the courts and masses were coming against his party. He said if Imran Khan would not realize the ground realities, PTI would became a tragic tale of our politics.

He said that during past two and a half years Imran has badly lost his case of rigging in the 2013 General Election. He failed to present any tangible proof of rigging before the three-member Judicial Commission comprising senior judges of Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The PTI chairman did not present the so-called proofs of rigging which he has been repeating in public meetings and media, he remarked. After Judicial Commission verdict, Imran should have accepted the reality that 2013 general election was free and fair, but violating his written pledge he continued to repeat rigging allegations.

He said that, since May 2013, most of the people have voted against the PTI in bye-elections. Irfan Siddiqui said PTI lost garrisons elections badly.

The adviser to PM said that the PTI defeat in recent LG elections was a proof that PTI was losing support of the people. Irfan Siddiqui said that recent LG elections were practical example of assessment of public opinion, and the people, by reposing confidence in PML-N have endorsed the policies of the present government.

To a question, he said that the committee on electoral reforms was working actively and PTI was responsible for delay in completion of its report, as it wasted time in sit-ins, protest demonstrations and boycott of the proceedings of the Parliament.
