PoliticsPTI rejects names proposed by PPP for caretaker PM

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has categorically rejected the names tabled by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for the caretaker prime minister.

Reportedly PPP has finalized the names of Pakistan’s former Ambassador to the United States Jalil Abbas Jilani and the former Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Zaka Ashraf for the caretaker prime minister.

In a statement issued on Monday, the PTI Central Secretary Information Fawad Chaudhry said that caretaker PM.

“Zaka Ashraf and Jalil Abbas Jilani have been suggested by PPP which are not acceptable to PTI”, he said, adding that Zaka Ashraf, being a close aide of Asif Ali Zardari, is not suitable for the premiership.

Fawad Chaudhry said that Jalil Abbas Jilani is a seasoned bureaucrat but the names tabled by PTI are surely more suitable in ensuring transparency in the upcoming general elections.

The PTI Central Secretary Information said that PTI suggested Justice (retd) Tassaduq Hussain Jilani, Ishrat Hussain and Abdur Razzaq Daud. “These names should be considered for a fair electoral process”, he urged.

Separately, Fawad Chaudhry also categorically refuted the reports of any alliance with Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and any other party stating that PTI will contest forthcoming elections as the single largest and most popular party and will not make any alliance with any party.

Furthermore, he also commented on the UNDP report stating that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) goons tried to cast an impression that PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government failed to deliver by bringing forth an old report.

“The report was of the period between 2005-2015,” he said and further added that PML-N and their “applauders” were shamelessly comparing two years of PTI with 10 years of PML-N government in Punjab.

Fawad Chaudhry also said that we all should wait for UNDP’s latest report which will divulge the performance of all the provincial governments.

"We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation.
