LAHORE, Pakistan: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has proposed two more names for the Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab, and hoped that an agreement would be reached at by Saturday.
Earlier on Thursday, PTI proposed Hassan Askari and Nasir Khan Durrani for the Post in the Interim Setup; however, Durrani excused himself from assuming the Office.
The PTI Opposition Leader in the Punjab assembly Mahmood-ur-Rasheed today met the Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan and proposed him two more names – Ayaz Amir and Yaqub Izhar – for the Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led Punjab government also proposed two names for the Post.
Sources said that a breakthrough is likely between the Punjab government and the opposition over the Caretaker Setup, and it is expected that the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and the Opposition Leader Mahmood-ur-Rasheed would again meet on Sunday to discuss the issue.
Meanwhile in a twitter message, the PTI Central Information Secretary Fawad Chaudhry said “PTI has proposed three names to be appointed as Caretaker Punjab CM. 1) Hassan Askari 2) Ayaz Amir 3) Yaqub Izhar… agreement on one name is expected by tomorrow evening.”
