Sharing the grief of Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday announced to observe a one-day mourning over the martyrdom of Haroon Bilour, and halt its election campaign across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Haroon Bilour embraced martyrdom along with 20 other people in Peshawar’s Yakatoot area last night where he had arrived at a Corner Meeting as part of his electioneering for PK-78 Peshawar-XIII election on July 25 but fell prey to a suicide bombing.

In a statement, the PTI Central Information Secretary Fawad Chaudhry termed the suicide blast in Yakatoot area highly deplorable and condemnable.

Fawad Chaudhry said that the whole Country is in grief over the martyrdom of Haroon Bilour and ANP’s workers. He said that PTI has decided to express complete solidarity with Bilour family and ANP leadership.

The PTI Central Information Secretary said that PTI will share the grief of Bilour family and ANP, and suspending all its political activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today.

Fawad Chaudhry said that PTI’s flags will remain at half-mast in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the mourning day. He also prayed to Allah Almighty to grant solace and patience to Bilour family and ANP leaders & workers.

Earlier, the Chairman PTI Imran Khan in a tweet also said “Sad to learn of Haroon Bilour and 2 other ANP workers deaths and strongly condemn the terrorist attack at the ANP corner meeting in Peshawar.”

“All political parties and their candidates must be provided proper security during their election campaigns by the State,” he added.

Meanwhile, the ANP Sindh has announced to observe a two-day mourning on Peshawar terrorist attack in which Haroon Bilour embraced martyrdom.

According to ANP spokesperson, all political activities of the party will remain suspended.

The Peshawar High Court Bar Association has also announced one-day mourning today to express sympathy with the bereaved families. Lawyers will boycott proceedings of courts.
