LAHORE, Pakistan: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday submitted a condemnation resolution in the Punjab assembly, seeking strict action against elements involved in firing on Justice Ijazul Ahsan’s residence in Lahore.

The resolution was submitted by the PTI lawmaker Sadia Sohail Rana.

In the condemnation resolution, the PTI said that the Punjab assembly strongly condemns the firing incident at Justice Ijazul Ahsan’s residence, and asks the Punjab government to apprehend the culprits at earliest.

The PTI also asked the government to ensure fool proof security for honorable judges.

It further said that the investigation proceedings would also be a test for the Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif’s Safe City Program. It said that responsibility lies on all stake holders to ensure a safe environment for state institutions to perform their duties effectively.

It is worth mentioning here that unknown gunmen opened fire at the residence of Justice Ijazul Ahsan located in Lahore’s Model Town at around 10:45 pm on Saturday and then again at 9:10 am on Sunday. However, luckily firing didn’t cause any casualty.

Following the incident, police registered an FIR against unknown persons for firing at Justice Ijaz Ul Hassan’s residence under attempt to murder and terrorism sections.

Meanwhile, a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) was also constituted to look into the firing incident.

In a statement, the Punjab government Spokesman Malik Ahmad Khan said that additional IG Muhammad Tahir would head the JIT while the DIG Investigation Sultan Chaudhry, representatives of Military Intelligence (MI), Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Intelligence Bureau (IB), and officers of the special branch and forensics agency would also be the part of the team.
