ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senior Leader and Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior Senator Rehman Malik has felicitated PPP workers across the world on the occasion of the party’s 50th foundation day anniversary.

“Today is the day to pay rich tributes to former Prime Minister Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and founding members of PPP for architecting a political platform which introduced the people of Pakistan with their basic democratic rights,” Rehman Malik said in a statement on Thursday.

Rehman Malik said that the people of Pakistan were deprived of their basic democratic rights in the absence of Constitution before the foundation of PPP. He said that PPP, which was founded on November 30, 1967, is the political party of the Country as it exists in every part of the Country from Khyber to Karachi and FATA to Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK).

“PPP is the only political party that is a symbol of federation and has always strengthened the federating units,” he said.

Senator Rehman Malik said that PPP has rendered massive sacrifices for the wellbeing of Pakistan, its people and strengthening democracy, adding that he is proud to be the part of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s mission.

Rehman Malik said that PPP is an ideology and vision of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto which is leading the masses in every difficult time and is turned into ‘the name of struggle of its people’.

“We PPP take these 50 Years as symbol of struggle for democratic, social & fundamental rights,” he said.

The PPP senior leader also lauded the contribution of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for her sacrifices for the cause of democracy and people’s rights.

While commending the role of former President Asif Ali Zardari, Senator Rehman Malik said that taking forward the mission of Shaheed Z A Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, Asif Ali Zardari as the president not only restored the democracy but also reenergized the party and led the nation and party in the most difficult time.

“Asif Ali Zardari while playing the role as a real democratic leader transferred all his powers to the Parliament proudly to strengthen democracy and democratic institutions,” Rehman Malik said

“We are cheered and proud today that PPP is being led by another daring Bhutto – Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari who is taking forward the ideology of PPP with his young and inspirational leadership,” he added.
