PoliticsPPP asks Nawaz to resign to save parliament, democracy

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should resign to save parliament and democracy following the verdict of Supreme Court which didn’t grant a ‘Clean Chit’ to him in Panama Case.

“We always did the politics of positivity,” the Opposition Leader said while talking to media outside the Parliament House in Islamabad on Friday.

Khursheed Shah said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was always taunted as friendly opposition. He said that we supported Nawaz Sharif during sit-in to save democracy.

Shah also rejected the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed by the Supreme Court to further investigate the Panama Case.

Talking to the media, the PPP’s senior Senator Aitzaz Ahsan thanked the opposition of Senate and the National Assembly for effectively staging a protest in the Parliament.

Senator Aitzaz Ahsan said that on corruption allegations, the PPP government was dissolved but with same charges Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was still ruling.

“We reject the JIT, what kind of investigation grade 19 officers will do?,” he said and also questioned that what happened of the JIT on model town incident?

The PPP leader further said that Maryam Nawaz was the key character of Panama Case but she had been given a Clean Chit. He also alleged that Sharif brothers had family relations with the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Siraj-ul-Haq said that for transparent investigation of Panama Papers, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation was essential.

“We will keep striving against corruption and corrupt system,” he said.

The JI Chief said that the Supreme Court had given a decision against the government, adding that the judges said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was no more Sadiq and Ameen.
