ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The polling is underway at the Parliament House in Islamabad on Saturday for the election of the Office of President of Pakistan.
The voting process will continue till four in the afternoon without any break.
In Islamabad, where members of the National Assembly and the Senate are casting their votes, the Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Aamer Farooq is acting as the Presiding Officer.
A Joint Candidate of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Asif Ali Zardari and Sunni Ittehad Council’s (SIC) Candidate Mahmood Khan Achakzai are in the run for the Office of the President.
The President is elected by an Electoral College comprising members of the Senate, National Assembly and the four Provincial Assemblies.
The voting is held through a secret ballot.
Similarly, Sessions of Provincial Assemblies being held for the election.
