ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said a thumbing victory of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in yesterday’s by-election in NA-154 Lodhran-I was a reply to all the allegations leveled against him.

The PML-N’s Candidate Pir Muhammad Iqbal Shah won NA-154 by-election held in Lodhran on Monday, securing 113,542 votes while his rival Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Ali Khan Tareen managed to bag 85,933 votes.

“People are giving reply to fake cases. Yesterday’s election is reply to all those allegations,” Nawaz Sharif while talking to media outside the accountability court in Islamabad today where he reached along with Maryam Nawaz and Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar to face National Accountability Bureau (NAB) references.

Nawaz Sharif said there was no need of new reference if current reference had any strength.

“Revenge is being taken in the name of accountability,” he said adding they wanted to know for how long they would have to appear before the court?

The former prime minister said why they would be punished if there was no allegation against them.

“I am not afraid of cases but facing revenge,” he remarked.

Talking to media, the Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb said the people of Pakistan had rejected the politics based on lies, anarchy and criminal thinking.

“I would like to congratulate the people of Lodhran for trusting PML-N,” the minister said.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said the people of Pakistan had understood the difference that either they should vote for those who attacked the Parliament or those who eliminated the menace of terrorism.

The information minister said Nawaz Sharif would also fulfill his promise of restoration of Justice and honor of the vote.
