PoliticsPML-N demands resignation from Chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal

LAHORE, Pakistan: The beleaguered Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal continues to face a backlash as now Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has sought his resignation, saying that he has made mockery of Country’s laws.

While addressing a Press Conference in Lahore, the PML-N leader Malik Ahmed Khan questioned the functioning of the NAB and alleged that it’ a bullying institution.

Malik Ahmed Khan said that notices issued by the NAB have forced the people to commit suicide. He said that the national accountability bureau is an extra-judicial institution.

The PML-N leader said that Shahbaz Sharif was arrested on the basis of baseless and fictitious allegations. He demanded the Chairman NAB to tender his resignation; though he refused to comment on the leaked controversial audio/video Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal.

PML-N distances itself from Malik Ahmed Khan’s statement

However, the PML-N Central Information Secretary Marriyum Aurangzeb distanced the party from Malik Ahmed Khan’s statement seeking resignation of the Chairman NAB.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said that it was Malik Ahmed Khan’s personal views and they had nothing to do with the party’s policy.

Earlier while addressing a Press Conference at the National Press Club (NPC) in Islamabad on Friday, the former Prime Minister and the PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi demanded the formation of a Parliamentary Committee to look into the alleged involvement of Prime Minister’s House in the Chairman NAB Controversy.

Khaqan Abbasi said that a motion will be tabled in the National Assembly on May 27 seeking establishment of the Parliamentary Body to unravel the truth behind accusations against Prime Minister Imran Khan and to provide the NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal a fair chance to defend himself.
