ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed told the National Assembly on Tuesday that as many as 65,54,391 overseas Pakistanis registered as voters were living in different countries.

In a written reply in the Lower House of the Parliament, the state minister said that said as per information obtained from National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), a total 65,54,391 registered Pakistani voters are living abroad.

Sheikh Aftab said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had constituted a special committee on ‘Overseas Voting’ to prepare a feasibility study report aimed at developing a workable, effective and transparent mode of voting for overseas Pakistanis on November 20, 2015.

Acknowledging importance of overseas Pakistanis participation in election process, Sheikh Aftab said that the ECP had set up an Overseas Voting Directorate.
