PoliticsNisar unhappy over bringing Parliament, judiciary face to face

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) disgruntled leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday voiced his concerns over what the already embattled ruling party might now engage itself in another confrontation with the judiciary from the Parliamentary forum.

“I am not in favor of bringing the Parliament and the judiciary face to face,” Chaudhry Nisar said in a meeting with the Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq whom he met in Islamabad and discussed political situation.

During the meeting, they also discussed different suggestions to end political tension.

The Speaker National Assembly said problems would never emerge if every institution worked within the Constitutional ambit.

Chaudhry Nisar’s fresh reservations emerged after Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi while speaking on the floor of the Lower House on Monday criticized the judicial activism, and said the National Assembly should debate whether it had the right to legislate and whether the government had powers to take decisions.

The prime minister said limit of every institution was defined in the Constitution and they would have to remain within them.

Referring to the Supreme Court Judges’ blunt remarks against the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Khaqan also said today elected representatives were dubbed as thieves, dacoits and mafia in Courts. He said government functionaries were summoned in Courts and insulted; that’s why they were reluctant to take any initiative.
