ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ahsan Iqbal has said that the sole motive behind the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s conviction was to keep him out of 2018 general elections so that Imran Khan could win.

“These cases were of political nature which only aimed at to take revenge,” Ahsan Iqbal said while talking to media after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended conviction of Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Captain (retd) Mohammad Safdar awarded by the Accountability Court in Avenfield reference.

“I congratulate the PML-N workers around the Country,” he said.

Earlier the two-member bench of the IHC Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb delivered its short judgement in Avenfield reference.
