Nawaz Sharif should grill PM Khaqan over Chairman NAB: Fawad Chaudhry

PoliticsNawaz Sharif should grill PM Khaqan over Chairman NAB: Fawad Chaudhry

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Information Secretary Fawad Chaudhry on Thursday asked Nawaz Sharif to grill Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi if he had any reservation over the role of Chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal as it was Abbasi who along with the Opposition Leader Syed Khursheed Shah had appointed the incumbent NAB Chairman.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a Press Conference described the money laundering allegation against him ‘shameful’, and asked the Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to prove his involvement in money laundering of $4.9 billion to India or tender resignation in 24 hours.

In response to Nawaz Sharif’s press conference, Fawad Chaudhry said the former prime minister tried to malign the credibility of the whole Panama Case by attacking NAB.

Fawad Chaudhry said Nawaz Sharif accused PTI of forging a nexus with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP); however, all appointments including the head of NAB had been made by his own Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Khursheed Shah.

The PTI Central Information Secretary said if Nawaz Sharif had any questions on the head of NAB, he should have asked his prime minister instead of holding a presser and attacking the NAB.

Fawad Chaudhry said Nawaz Sharif should have admitted that either he didn’t have the ability to appoint an impartial and reputed person or he wanted heads of state institutions to act as his personnel employees.

In addition, he said whenever Nawaz Sharif was asked to justify his ill-gotten money, he began levelling accusations that democracy had been endangered or a conspiracy had been hatched against him.
