ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday said he stood by his remarks which he had delivered in an interview to Dawn, and would continue to speak the truth regardless of its repercussions.

Talking to media outside the Accountability Court in Islamabad, Nawaz Sharif said he was forcefully being called a ‘traitor’. He said a person, who had executed nuclear tests, being called a traitor.

“What I said wrong in that interview,” he said in reference to his interview published in Dawn on May 12 with the title ‘For Nawaz, it’s not over till it’s over’.

Nawaz Sharif said they had sacrificed 50,000 people; armed forces, police and civilians rendered sacrifices in the war on terror. He said he had been saying for many years that they had paid a huge price in the war against terrorism but yet the World wasn’t willing to accept their narrative.

The former prime minister said if someone asked questions in media, he was labeled as a traitor. He said were they patriots who abrogated the Constitution, dismissed judges and shed blood in Karachi on May 12, 2007?

Nawaz said what he said about non-state actors, had already been said by many in the past. He said that’s why, the World didn’t accept their narrative.

Furthermore, Nawaz Sharif also said who said Kulbhushan Jadhav was not a spy, adding the latter was an Indian soldier and involved in espionage in Pakistan.
