The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has announced to reject the February 8 general elections results terming the polls to be rigged worse than those of 2018.
While addressing a Press Conference on Wednesday, the JUI-F Chief said that they would not vote in favour of Shahbaz Sharif for the slot of Prime Minister.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that recently held polls were heavily rigged, “more so than 2018”.
“We were not allowed to campaign, they didn’t listen to us, we won’t listen to them,” he said.
The JUI-F Chief said that the role of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had been doubtful since the very beginning, adding that the ECP was subservient to the establishment.
“If the establishment believes that elections were free and fair, then that means the army’s May 9 narrative has been buried,” he said.
Fazlur Rehman said that they would join the Parliament with reservations but wouldn’t be party of any alliance.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman also invited Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to sit on the opposition benches in the Parliament.
