ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Opposition Leader in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Monday urged the federal government to immediately withdraw its decision of increasing prices of petroleum products.

“We will not let the government to hike petroleum prices,” Khursheed Shah said in a statement.

On Sunday while briefing the media in Islamabad, the Advisor to Prime Minister for Finance Miftah Ismail said prices of petrol had been increased by Rs 4.06 per liter, High Speed Diesel and Light Diesel Oil by Rs 3.96 and Rs 6.25 per liter respectively while price of Kerosene oil was also increased by Rs 6.79 per liter.

Following the hike in prices of petroleum products, now new per liter price of petrol is Rs 81.53, kerosene Rs 64.32, High Speed Diesel Rs 89.91 and Light Diesel Rs 58.37.

Khursheed Shah expressed displeasure over hike in petroleum prices as announced by the federal government on the eve of New Year 2018, saying Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) would not let the government to put burden on poor masses.

The Opposition Leader said the government caused unaffordable burden of foreign debt on the nation. He said the people were suffering due to foreign debts.

The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
