ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Expressing his displeasure over Khawaja Asif’s disqualification, the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Friday said it would be better if the matter of Iqama was sent to the Parliament.

Talking to media persons outside the Parliament House in Islamabad, Khursheed Shah said it felt sad if a worker was forced to be expelled from a party.

The opposition leader said the Parliament should have made its decisions by itself. He said if a person was disqualified under article 62, he was presumed to have lied.

Khursheed Shah said he wasn’t happy over the disqualification of Khawaja Asif, adding he repeatedly asked Nawaz Sharif to abolish the act but the latter did not cooperate.

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) stalwart said whatever happened to Khawaja Asif, was from a legal perspective. But, he added, it wasn’t right under the parliamentary system. He said politics in Pakistan should have been parliamentary.

Syed Khursheed Shah the former military Ziaul Haq did not spare any politician even after his death.

Talking about the federal budget 2018-19 being presented today, Khursheed Shah said the incumbent government should have presented the budget just for four months. He said the government wanted to play with the dignity of the Parliament.

The opposition leader said it would be better if the government presented the budget for four months. He said if the government presented the budget for full fiscal year, it would initiate a new tradition.

Khursheed Shah said neither the federal government gave any relief to the poor people nor new investment arrived in the Country in last five years. He said the PML-N government had increased the burden of foreign loans.
