ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In line with his Constitutional responsibility, the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah has become more proactive regarding the appointment of the Caretaker Prime Minister, and also asked the people to suggest their respective suitable names.
“The appointment of the Caretaker Prime Minister is a major responsivity,” Khursheed Shah said while talking to media representatives in Islamabad.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) stalwart said that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi hasn’t yet made any contact with him to initiate the consultation process for appointment of the Caretaker Prime Minister. Though he added that the consultation process must begin now as only three months are left till the incumbent government completes its five-year tenure.
Khursheed Shah said that the people should also suggest suitable names so that they could be included in the consultation process. He said that they would try their best to appoint a best suited person.
The Opposition Leader further said that the powers of the Caretaker Prime Minister are clearly mentioned in the Constitution, adding that the latter is bound to run daily government affairs.
Commenting on the results of NA-154 Lodhran-I by-election held on Monday, Khursheed Shah said that the people announced their verdict through vote.
The PPP leader said that the Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan took a stance against dynastic politics but eventually he himself deviated from his stance; therefore PTI had to suffer a defeat in Lodhran.
