ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Opposition Leader in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Wednesday criticized the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for clapping over the arrest of rapist and murder Imran Ali in Kasur.

In his remarks on the floor of the Lower House of the Parliament in Islamabad, Khursheed Shah said that no one celebrates and claps over the rape and murder of an innocent girl as Shahbaz Sharif did in yesterday’s Press Conference.

While addressing a Press Conference in Lahore on Tuesday, the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif confirmed the arrest of 24-year-old Imran, a serial killer who had been involved in rape and murder of minor girls including Zainab in Kasur.

In the meantime, Shahbaz Sharif also clapped as a gesture to laud the performance of Punjab Police.

Khursheed Shah further said that the Parliament should condemn Shahbaz Sharif’s clapping. He said that the Punjab Chief Minister should seek apology and admit his mistake.

In addition, the Opposition Leader said that right to express views in the assembly should be given to every parliamentarian. He said that the Speaker doesn’t have right to forbid anyone from speaking.

Earlier in the morning, the National Assembly Session began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and Naat. The Deputy Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi chaired the Session.

It is worth mentioning here that Zainab’s father while talking to media on Tuesday also said that this was not the occasion for clapping, referring to Shahbaz Sharif’s action of commending police officials who arrested the killer and rapist.

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
