ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday rejected petitions, seeking disqualification of Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif in NA-110 rigging Case.

The petitions were filled by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Usman Dar and Independent Candidate Arshad Babu, requesting the Supreme Court to declare results of 2013 general election in Sialkot’s NA-110 Constituency null and void as massive rigging took place there.

Earlier, an election tribunal had also rejected the same application against Khawaja Asif.

Khawaja Asif won the election from NA-110 held on May 11, 2013 by securing 92,803 votes. His main rival PTI’s Usman Dar took 71,525 votes.

However, Usman Dar challenged the election results and alleged that election in NA-110 was massively rigged.

Sialkot’s NA-110 was among four Constituencies in Punjab where PTI Chairman Imran Khan alleged that massive rigging occurred in these Constituencies and demanded an impartial investigation into it.

Talking to media, the Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, who was once disqualified in NA-122 rigging case but restored his Office after winning by-election, said that PTI staged a 126-day long sit-in for four Constituencies which produced no result.

Ayaz Sadiq said that the decision of the Supreme Court in favour of Khawaja Asif is the victory of truth. He said that opposition’s allegations have been proved wrong once again.
