Lahore, Pakistan: JUI-F Azadi March reached Lahore around 02.20 hours on Wednesday morning which was welcomed by workers of PML-N at several places.

March led by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman came to Lahore from Multan enroute to Sahiwal.

Azadi March was started from Karachi on October 27 and would proceed to Islamabad for demanding resignation from Prime Minister Imran Khan and formation of National government.

JUI-F claims that 2018 elections were rigged to install PTI government in Islamabad. This is the same accusation which was voiced by PTI against the results of 2013 General Elections and PTI consequently closed down Islamabad in 2014 for 126 days by staging a sit in outside parliament House.

According to available information, Azadi March will enter Islamabad after from Murree Road and Faizabad. This was confirmed by JUI-F district spokesperson Hafiz Ziaullah Tuesday night. It is expected that the caravans will reach Rawalpindi by evening of October 31.

Islamabad correspondent added that government would not allow Azadi March to enter Islamabad after crossing Faizabad Bridge if there would be any chance for law and order situation.

It may be mentioned that the Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday directed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government not to place hurdles in the way of Azadi March; however, it also asked the March participants to remain peaceful.

Having apprehensions of facing impediments in March’s way in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the JUI-F though its lawyer approached the PHC last week and pleaded it to direct the provincial government against resorting to such actions.

In response to the petition, a two-member of the Court consisting of Chief Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth and Justice Ahmad Ali today asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government not to block the routes of the JUI-F’s long march.

The PHC also directed media to provide equal coverage to the government and opposition.
