ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The devoted and loyalist activists of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) remain undeterred by the torrential downpour which has been continuing to lash Islamabad intermittently for two days.

The Azadi March-turned sit-in staged to seek Prime Minister Imran Khan’s resignation entered its 7th day on Thursday while it still remains unascertained that for how long it would continue to last.

Meanwhile, the Federal Capital along with other northern parts of the Country has been receiving widespread rain since Tuesday night.

The temperature in Islamabad has already dropped to 13-degree centigrade as recorded on Thursday morning, and which is very likely to fall further in coming days.

According to the Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD), the intermittent spell of rain, which began on Tuesday night, will continue till Friday.

Taking into the account the plight of sit-in (dharna) participants in Islamabad, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday directed the Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Amer Ali Ahmed to immediately visit the dharna site to assess what relief and assistance can be provided to the sit-in participants with the onset of rain and changing weather conditions.

Subsequently, the relief and assistance teams along with ambulances reached the dharna venue and gave first aid and medical assistance to sit-in participants.

Sources said that a total of 678 people received first aid yesterday.

Though the number of sit-in participants has considerably shrunk now but hundreds of JUI-F loyalists till continue to demonstrate steadfast and are unmoved.

Simultaneously negotiations are also under between the representatives of the government and the joint opposition to resolve the issue amicably. However so fat talks haven’t yet yielded fruitful results.

Earlier it was being anticipated that sit-in would end soon after the JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman withdrew his plan of marching towards the Red Zone.

However addressing the sit-in participants on Wednesday, Maulana Fazlur Rehman announced that they would organize a Seerat-e-Tayyaba Conference on 12 Rabiul Awwal (Sunday) at the sit-in venue, indicating that they have no intention yet to end their dharna in coming days.
