Islamabad, Pakistan: After the General Elections 2024 held on February 8, this has been testified that Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s party Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI-F) has become a victim of its own policies due to zigzag political moves and that is the reason it was badly defeated in KPK.
This historic defeat proved that Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s politics which is already limited to some constituencies of Balochistan and certain pockets of KPK, is almost extinct.
However, political cunningness is a gift of nature to Maulana Fazlur Rehman and he has fortunately found a passage to move ahead by using the irrational leadership of PTI that is ruling the KPK province. Swiftly, he had left behind old friends like PMLN and PPP who had been a source of power for Maulana Fazur Rehman during the last three decades and now he is aligned with PTI which he used to call the “Zionist” lobby. He used to say that the PTI government had been “backed by Jews” to come to power with the agenda of “recognizing Israel and disintegrating Pakistan”. He used to claim that PTI received financial assistance from foreign nations, including Israel.
What Maulana Fazur Rehman is facing today did not arrive at his fate in one day rather his party kept losing popularity in the last two decades which was a time of the rise of PTI in KPK. Instead of doing retrospectives, he is again calling his defeat an “engineered” move by the state institutions and he went completely bonkers after the defeat and instead of admitting his defeat, he started making all sorts of vile allegations. He says that he neither believes in these elections nor his results nor the parliament formed as a result of General Elections 2024.
Since the partyless General Elections in 1985, Maulana Fazlur Rehman has been in power and made considerable political fortunes during the thirty years. Now he is angry that old friends like PPP and PMLN are not accommodating him in the power setup and this reality is making him crazy.
To be relevant in politics, he is shaking hands with PTI which had been calling him “Maulana Diesel”. Bewilder with defeat, Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s ultimate effort is now to provoke PTI in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by showing artificial support to provoke it to stand against the federation and hyperactive Chief Minister of KPK would easily be used for this purpose while PTI, has no idea about this very cunning trick of Maulana Fazlur Rehman and they are getting trapped in this trap.
Maulana Fazlur Rahman is giving PTI a lesson with every passing day not to cooperate with the Federation at all to ensure that PTI’s government in KPK does not last long and there and the federal government, which has various constitutional options, can impose governor’s rule in KPK.
A strong-headed personality like Ali Amin Ghandapur as Chief Minister KPK is a golden opportunity for seasoned politicians like Maulana Fazul Rehman to play havoc with Province-Centre relationships. It is no wonder that the emotional leadership of PTI currently sitting in KPK is unable to understand this trick of Maulana at all.
