ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and the President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shahbaz Sharif have expressed shock and sadness at the death of young Pakistani Student Sabika Sheikh at Santa Fe in the United States.

The 17-year-old Sabika Sheikh was among 10 people who were killed when a teenage Classmate opened fire at the Santa Fe High School in Texas on Friday.

Hailing from Karachi, Sabika Sheikh was studying in the US under the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program. She was supposed to return to Pakistan on June 9 to celebrate Eidul Fitr with her family.

In a message on twitter, the Chairman PTI Imran Khan said “Shocked & saddened by the tragic death of Sabika Sheikh our Pakistani Honour Roll exchange student in the Santa Fe school shooting in USA. My prayers go to the family – May Allah give them the strength to cope with such an irreparable loss.”

The President PML-N and the Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif also wrote on twitter “Grieved to learn about the killing of students including a Pakistani exchange student, Sabika Sheikh, in an incident of shooting at a US school. My heart-felt sympathies to bereaved families.”

Earlier in a twitter message, the Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal expressed deep sorrow over the death of Sabika Sheikh, and said their Consul General (OCG) was in touch with the family and the local authorities, and was making efforts to arrange the earliest repatriation of the human remains.
