ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has announced to observe “Yaum-e-Tashakur” (Thanksgiving) on Sunday (July 30) after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif stepped down following the verdict of the Supreme Court in Panama Papers Case.
“I am thankful to Allah that we have won against the corrupt,” Imran Khan said in a Press Conference in Islamabad. “Our struggle has borne fruit today.”
Imran Khan stressed that he has no personal differences with Nawaz Sharif.
The PTI Chief said that Pakistan came into being for justice, adding that the foundation of Iqbal’s Pakistan has been laid today. He said that Pakistan was to be a land where justice would prevail.
While paying tribute to judiciary, Imran Khan said that today judiciary proved that a powerful person is also accountable. He said that if the judiciary wills, the strong can be held accountable as well.
Imran said that he is happy that for the very first time the Supreme Court has punished the prime minister.
“This isn’t ours but Pakistan’s future that is brightened,” Imran Khan said.
Imran Khan said that nations aren’t destroyed by wars and earthquakes but they are destroyed by corruption and injustice. He said that if the institutions that serve justice are destroyed, nations are destroyed.
The PTI Chief also expressed gratitude to media and all those who have stood up along with him in fight against corruption.
In the end, Imran Khan invited all his accomplices and general public to participate at the gathering to be held at Parade ground in Islamabad at 05:00 pm on Sunday.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by the Supreme Court of Pakistan along with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar in Panama Papers Case.
