ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka has rejected the pleas filed by the former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, seeking suspension of their sentence in the Iddat Case.

Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka announced the judgement on Thursday afternoon, that was reserved a few days ago after the conclusion of arguments by both the parties.

Meanwhile, the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub has announced to challenge Judge Afzal Majoka’s decision in the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

In response to the judgment, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) termed it “Absolutely ridiculous”.

The PTI observed that a Case that is unprecedentedly despicable in both our Country’s as well as Islamic history; has been globally condemned & brought immense embarrassment to Pakistan.

The party said that every single individual responsible for fabricating and carrying this Iddat Case will go down in the dirtiest, darkest alleys of history.

Both Imran Khan and Burhra Bibi were sentenced to seven years in jail and slapped a fine of Rs 5,00,000 each in February 2024 by a Court that ruled their 2018 marriage broke the law.

Bushra Bibi was accused of not completing the waiting period mandated by Islam, called “Iddat,” after divorcing her previous husband and marrying Imran Khan.
