ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has rejected the reference against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) dissident Members of the National Assembly.

The reference had been sent by the former Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Suri, seeking the disqualification of 20 PTI lawmakers for violating party discipline and defecting.

In its reserved verdicts announced on Wednesday by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja, the Commission declared that the reference lacked solid evidences against the lawmakers.

The Commission also said that Article 63-A doesn’t apply to the PTI’s dissident lawmakers.
