Lahore, Pakistan: A high level meeting was held under the chair of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif here on Thursday to review progress on different ongoing development projects in the province.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that PML-N government has done tremendous work for the promotion of health, education and social sector. It is sanguine to note that the mission of public service and providing relief to the masses has been promoted successfully.

He said that Ramadan package worth billions of rupees is providing relief to the people while the nation is moving towards the goal of self-reliant and prosperous Pakistan under the leadership of Prime Minister. He said that the national leadership will prove its mettle by fulfilling the promises made with the nation. He lamented that the people became victim of different problems due to the corruption of past rulers and added that the nation has not forgotten the plunder of these corrupt rulers till today. Every new day continued to dawn with a new corruption scandal of past rulers then. He said that the elements indulged in anarchy and politics of allegations increased problems of the people as conspiracy was hatched against the people by delaying the development projects through sit-ins and lockdown. He said that the enemy of public development does not want to see Pakistan making progress and speedy development of the country is increasing worries of these elements.

He said that the second unit of Sahiwal Coal Power Plant is also fully operational. He said that 1320 MW electricity will be generated through this first project completed under CPEC. He said that Members Assembly should work hard and serve the people round the clock. He said that elected representatives have to play their role in transparent, timely and quality completion of development projects.

Members of Provincial Assembly while speaking on the occasion said that steps of Shehbaz Sharif for public welfare, social sector, education and health are unprecedented. They said that people are praying for him on completion of mega projects in Gujranwala. They said that Shehbaz Sharif has won the hearts of the people through extraordinary development projects in Gujranwala and the achievements made with honesty and patriotism can never be forgotten by the people. They said that completion of power plants before the stipulated period is example of his untiring hard work.  MNA Hamza Shehbaz Sharif, Provincial Ministers Malik Nadeem Kamran, Mansha Ullah Butt, Hameeda Waheed ud Din and Members Provincial Assembly from Gujranwala attended the meeting while district and administrative officers participated in the meeting through video link.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
