LAHORE, Pakistan: The former Chief Minister of Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi along with his son Moonis Elahi have relinquished the membership of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Talking to media on Monday, the PTI leader Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that Chaudhary Pervez Elahi has left PML-Q and officially joined the PTI now.

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that along with Pervez Elahi, Moonis Elahi, and Hussain Elahi, other former PML-Q MPAs have also joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

The PTI leader said that Chaudhary Pervez Elahi will be appointed as the President of PTI.

Chaudhry Pervez Elahi served as the Chief Minister of Punjab from July 27, 2022 to January 22, 2023.

Last month, Elahi succeeded to get a Vote of Confidence from the Punjab Assembly, and a day later, he sent a letter to Governor Balighur Rehman advising him to dissolve the provincial assembly.

Elahi previously had served as the Chief Minister Punjab from October 2002 to October 2007. He also served as the Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan in 2013 and as the Speaker of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab from 2018 to 2022.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
