ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has thanked the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) for placing their trust in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) through their votes which resulted in its electoral victory.
In the AJK Legislative Assembly Elections 2021 held on July 25, the ruling PTI emerged as the largest political party in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly by winning 25 seats while Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) won 11 seats and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) secured six seats.
The Muslim Conference and Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Party secured one seat each.
“I want to congratulate all our successful candidates,” the prime minister in a statement on Monday.
Imran Khan said that as the ambassador for Kashmir, I will continue to raise my voice on all international forums including the United Nations to ensure the international community fulfills its commitment of self-determination to the Kashmiri people through an UN-sponsored plebiscite.
The prime minister also said that we will focus on bringing the people out of poverty through our Ehsaas and Kamyab Pakistan progress and establish accountability and transparency in the government.
