RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: As many as 16,000 polling staff will be deployed to ensure free, fair and transparent local government (LG) elections in Rawalpindi district.
The district administration has provided staff for polling to be held in third phase on December 5, District Election Commissioner Nadeem Zubair told media on Tuesday.
He said arrangements for election material, including ballot boxes, had been completed for holding LG elections in 160 union councils of the district. Voters lists had also been finalized. Some 1,911 polling stations would be set up, he added.
Nadeem Zubair said the training of returning officers (ROs), presiding officers (POs) and other staff had been started.
To a question, he said display of arms, use of loudspeakers and objectionable material would be restricted.
The election commission, he said, had completed the process of reviewing Form No 7 submitted by the contesting candidates.
He said election symbols has been allotted to the candidates.
To another question, he said police, Rangers and army would be deployed to ensure security on polling day.
