Police vehicle attacked in Quetta, two policemen including DPO injured

QUETTA, Pakistan: Unknown assailants opened fire on a police vehicle in Quetta on Monday that left two policemen including the district police officer (DPO) Kharan seriously injured, the levies sources said.

The policemen were shifted to a hospital where the DPO Kharan Muhammad Anwar Badini was reported to be in a critical condition.

The levies sources said that assailants managed to escape from the scene after launching the attack.

The Chief Minister Balochistan Dr Abdul Malik Baloch strongly condemned the attack. He also directed the police officials to launch an investigation into the incident and submit a report in this regard.

No person or group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. However, the levies sources suspect Baloch separatists to be behind the attack.

On Saturday, a police man was killed while two others sustained injuries when unknown gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire at a police check post in Khuzdar district of Balochistan.

Similarly, a police vehicle was targeted with an improvised explosive device (IED) in Hazar Ganji area of Quetta on Saturday. However, fortunately no casualty took place in the blast.
