ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has welcomed the signing of historic agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran for resumption of diplomatic relations.
In a Twitter statement on Saturday, he said that the China-mediated deal augurs well for peace, stability and economic development in Middle East and Muslim world.
The prime minister said that it shows that with collective wisdom, win-win outcomes are possible.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia and Iran agreed to re-establish their diplomatic relations.
The official news agencies of both Countries reported that the decision to this effect came following five days talks between senior Saudi and Iranian officials in Beijing that concluded today.
In a joint statement, the two sides vowed to reopen their Embassies and exchange ambassadors within a period of two months.
Both Countries also agreed to respect each other’s sovereignty and not interfere in each other’s internal matters.
It was further told that the foreign ministers of the two Countries will meet soon to make arrangement for exchange of envoys and discuss means to enhance ties.
Riyadh and Tehran also agreed to activate the security cooperation agreement signed in 2001 and the trade, economy and investment agreement signed in 1998.
Both sides thanked the Chinese leadership and government for hosting and supporting the talks.
