PM seeks concerted effort, unity to maintain law and order

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Tuesday that it is the foremost priority of the incumbent government to maintain law and order in the country, adding that a concerted effort and united stand will enable us to achieve the desired results.

The premier made these remarks while talking to a parliamentary delegation headed by Chief Minister Balochistan Dr Abdul Malik in Islamabad on Tuesday. The delegation included Senator Mushahid Hussain, Senator Daud Khan, Senator Haji Adeel, Senator Abdul Rauf Lala, Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Maulana Abdul Wasey and other members of the Balochistan Assembly and provincial leaders.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister Balochistan extended complete support to the government’s counter-terrorism, saying that we are together against the terrorists and want to give a strong message to them through our unity.

The chief minister sought assistance of the prime minister in recovery of the Awami National Party (ANP) leader Arbab Abdul Zahir Kansi and eradication of the menace of kidnapping for ransom in the province.

The prime minister expressed deep concern over kidnapping for ransom phenomenon and assured the delegation that he will take personal interest in recovery of the ANP.

Sharif said that he is also concerned over the kidnapping of the sons of former Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gillani and late Punjab Governor Salman Taseer. He said that he will direct heads of all intelligence agencies to make concerted efforts to recover them as soon as possible.
