ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday directed early completion of the Western Corridor of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and start of land acquisition for which the funds have already been allocated in PSDP budget.

Chairing a meeting to review the progress of infrastructure projects here at the PM House, the Prime Minister said materialization of the Western Corridor was his commitment with the nation that he made during the All Party Conference (APC) and stressed that it must be honoured.

The Prime Minister also directed the staff of PM Office to coordinate with the provincial governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan for fast tracking land acquisition process.

He said that government had made unprecedented investment in infrastructure projects in Balochistan and added that for the first time, 100 percent PSDP funds had been released by the federal government to Balochistan.

The Prime Minister emphasized upon speedy development of the projects along with strict adherence to all the applicable procurement guidelines.



He said the speedy implementation of the projects shall not compromise by the transparency standards. He added that the projects must be completed within stipulated time.

Chairman NHA Shahid Ashraf Tarar gave a detailed briefing to the Prime Minister about the CPEC route and the Western Corridor.

The Prime Minister was briefed about the feasibility designs of the different packages of the projects like Burhan-DI Khan, DI Khan to Zhob, Zhob to Quetta.

The Prime Minister was informed that financial closer of Lahore to Abdul Hakim Motorway and Zhob to Mushakot Motorway had been done and these projects were ready for the ground-breaking.

The Prime Minister announced to perform the ground-breaking of these projects in November 2015.

He was briefed that the work on Khanewal to Multan section of Motorway was complete and the project was ready for inauguration in November.

The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction on the progress of the development works and directed NHA to fulfill it’s obligation with utmost commitment by ensuring transparency and saving tax-payer’s money.
