KARACHI, Pakistan: A rapid transport system will be launched in Karachi at a cost of Rs15 billion to ease the sufferings of the masses.

It was announced by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday in Karachi where he is on a day long visit to discuss various development projects and other issues.

The prime minister announced immediate construction of the rapid transport system, called Green Line, in Karachi and said that the federal government will construct it without any delay.

Sharif said that the share of the Sindh and Karachi city government will be borne by the federal government.

In addition, the prime minister said that the government is fully cognizant of the transport problems of Karachi and said the rapid bus system will bring about a revolution in the transportation system for the residents of Karachi, who will be getting a fast and affordable service.
